WASH THE CAR ENGINE. HOW TO WASH?

There are no clear recommendations on how to correctly / accurately wash the engine of a car and how often it is not. But, there are several nuances explaining why it is better to keep internal mechanisms clean. In this article we will discuss why you need to wash the car engine and how to properly wash, so as not to pour electrics.

WHY DO NEED TO WASH THE ENGINE?

The Dirt on engines makes it difficult to control the leakage of technical fluids (coolants, oil). In the event of a malfunction, the motorist will not be able to notice the malfunction in time as a result, risks getting more serious problems. Then, the build-up of dirt impedes the heat transfer of the engine and contributes to its overheating. That is, the wear process is accelerated.

As for the electrical wiring, the dirt formed on it can impede the engine start (current leakage occurs). Another important aspect is that a clean engine is less fire dangerous . The oil spills formed in the engine compartment, evaporating and forming combustible vapors, can cause the engine to ignite. A clean unit is easier and more enjoyable to maintain. Most auto workshops simply refuse to take to work cars with heavily polluted engine compartment.

Self-cleaning of the engine, you may use water with shampoo, or for a better removal of dirt you can buy a special engine cleaner

HOW TO WASH THE ENGINE

Properly washing the engine is not washing it with water under high pressure. Otherwise there will be more harm than good. In this way, it’s easy to damage the insulation and cause corrosive processes inside the connectors in the generator, distributor, various relays, etc. A strong jet can completely wash away stickers with important information in the engine compartment, same as damage the paint on some parts.

It is necessary to use a weak stream of water with the use of high-quality car chemicals and special auto shampoo . No household detergent by a competent person should be seriously considered due to their inefficiency / worthlessness against engine oil. The washing process itself is as follows:

      • We insulate with polyethylene everything that is afraid of moisture (connectors, generator, air intake of the air filter and breaker-distributor);
      • We warm up and turn off the engine (it should be warm, but not hot);
      • Remove the battery (you can not remove, but it is better to disconnect the negative terminal);
      • Put on the engine detergent and give a couple of minutes to dissolve the dirt;
      • We wash off, remove insulation and dry.

The battery is treated with a mixture of water & baking soda in equal proportions, which is important after a stationary battery charging to reduce the degree of its discharge. This is a good tool to rid it of corrosion.

After washing, the engine is optimally dried with a compressor, but it can also be vacuumed. In extreme cases, you can start it and wait until the moisture evaporates. Then you should wipe all the rags. It’s recommended to wash the motor once / twice a year.
