The increasing cultural interest around Paraty, that has an income of about 80% due to tourism, began, no doubts about it, with the FLIP. From the first edition of the Literary Festival, back in 2003, the city kept the attention and the quality of the event launched Paraty as one of the main cultural spots in Brasil. FLIP means crowded bars and streets filled with people going from one place to another. The bookings usually need to be made from one year to another, at least.

During the rest of the year, the air in Paraty got filled with the other arts, like Jazz, films, dance and photography. The first main cultural event of the cultural calendar in Paraty is the Bourbon Jazz Festival, an international jazz festival that takes place in the events area and in the streets of the Historic Centre.

The beautiful colonial city of Paraty it's home, since 2009, of one of the most interesting events of the Paraty Event Calendar. The Bourbon Jazz Festival Paraty has a great variety of national and international atractions, including traditional and modern Jazz, Swing, Blues, Soul, R&B and more, during the three nights of free live shows in a stage built specifically for the festival in the Main square, in the Historic Centre, just 5 minutes away from the best  in Pontal

The festival is organaized by the Bourbon Street Music Club of São Paulo, and it has the support of the Prefectura Municipal of Paraty. The three nights will be a sample of the shows that they present in the paulista club, an authentic temple of Jazz and Blues of SP that has already brought great international artists like Ray Charles, B.B. King and Nina Simone, among many other names of the Jazz and Blues scene. The festival usually begins in the streets of the Historic Centre with a cheerful Street Band, the Dixie Square Jazz Band, wich introduces the live shows of the friday, saturday and sunday nights.
